Welcome to Dara Ayu Villas & Spa
We stayed at the Dara Ayu for about a week and we didn’t want to leave. When we came here, the volcano erupted (just a small one) and lots of flight got cancelled so we ended up having the whole property to ourselves. No one was here but us! So you can imagine how fun it was! It’s like we visited a friend’s villa!
The staff at Dara Ayu are helpful and friendly. Our favorite is Mr. Adi. He was our driver, our tour guide , and our host. We learn a lot about Ubud from Adi. He was knowledgeable, kind, and hard working.
We love the friendly manager Bambang who always greeted us with the warmest welcome and chatted with us during our lunch/dinner.
The whole resort is beautiful and picturesque. If you are thinking about Hanging Gardens and worried about your budget, please come to Dara Ayu. It’s located at the higher point than hanging garden and therefore has a better view! The pool is very similar to HG’ pool. Check out our photos:)
BALI’S SPIRIT AT ITS BEST!
I retreated myself at Dara Ayu Villas outside Ubud and all I can say is that this place takes you back into the real essence and spirituality of Bali. It’s a fair way out of town, but once you find it, you will never forget it!
Nestled between the forests and rice terraces, it’s a paradise on earth! The villas are absolutely beautiful and offer privacy. The resort is so quiet that unless you make a point of being social, you will not find or hear anyone. It’s serenity at its best.
The staff are so lovely, the food is nice and simple, Indonesian cuisine at its best prepared and service by staff who are3 from the nearby village.
Absolutely loved the outdoor bathtub and shower arrangement. And, where else would you find a gym where you can workout and look over a rice terrace?
If you are looking for tranquility, spirituality, and to immerse yourself in the real Balinese spirit, this is the place for you!October, 2014
Dara Ayu is a rare gem set in the lush jungle over looking rice fields in a setting which reminds me of what bali used to be like 15 years ago. The views would have to be some of the best the island has to offer. The villas are still relatively new (5 years old) and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We intended on only staying a couple of nights but decided to extend our stay after the first night. The lifestyle is relaxing, peaceful and healthy. We have enjoyed long walks through the rice fields and down to the river below. Transport is not a problem for the staff to organise even though the property is quite remote there is always a staff member happy to drive you anywhere you want to go. The food is excellent, they even run Indonesian cooking classes for the guests. A villa that we will return to with our friends and family in the future. They grow a lot of the fruit, herbs, vegetables and rice at the villa which makes everything taste wonderful. There is an abundance of bird life and butterfly’s around the villa so great for anyone who enjoys experiencing nature. Most guests go to Dara Ayu to experience the true essence of tradition yet also luxury bali which it delivers very well. The gardens are a wonderful experience in themselves. The prices are extremely good value for money. In our opinion. March, 2015
HEAVEN, WHERE THE JUNGLE MEETS THE RICE PADDIES
My partner and I had the fortune of finding this little gem a few weeks ago and stayed for 2 blissful days. Its easy to get lost in time here as the view is one of the most incredible we’ve seen here in Bali. It’s the stuff that movies are made from – cascading paddy fields running down a beautiful valley – the sound of nature all around and how it changes throughout the day. The pool is amazing with a heavenly little cabana right on the edge of the cliff next to the infinity pool which was our spot for whiling away the hours of the day. The staff are amazing led by a wonderful warm and knowledgable local called Adhi. He, like the rest of the team, are all from the village that the villa is located in. The security man owns one of the rice paddy fields you look upon, the waiter a piece of jungle running down the side of the villa and so on. The food was wonderful and sourced from local providers and markets. Delicious, organic and healthy. The spa is magical, located half way down the valley with gorgeous waterfalls running through it. Was a lovely experience having a massage while being in nature and hearing running water. We had one of the rooms on the top floor with an outdoor bathroom and tub which had views right down the valley. Our bedroom felt like we were in the tree tops – like a luxurious tree house. It’s only a matter of time until this little gem who has had a recent make over will get out there as a destination for those looking for privacy, luxury and a romantic escape in the real Bali away from the typical tourist trail. Highly recommended! September, 2015
AH, THE SERENITY!
Came and stayed for three nights at Dewi Kunti, two villa rooms with private pool and rice field views for both rooms. This place is secluded and very fancy, hotel staff are very understanding and friendly. Made us feel welcomed. The rooms are nice and clean! September 2015
SO INCREDIBLE I WANT TO GET MARRIED HERE!
My fiancé and I and stayed at Dara Ayu last year for a few days. We have been raving about it ever since. Recently we have been trying to decide if we want to host our Wedding on the property. While staying there we met the owner, and she was a delight. Part of what makes us consider it was her genuine passion for the property and the development of it with her husband Dave. We love to support a family business and the ambiance and the gorgeous facilities in the middle of the Balinese rainforest are breath taking. We hope to hear back from you so we can make our decision and get the planning started. April 2015
